U.S. Meat Export Federation Appoints Weber Shandwick Korea
SEOUL, Korea, 25 May 2010 – The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF), a nonprofit trade association, has selected Weber Shandwick as its public relations consultancy to provide strategic communications support to enhance the organisation’s image and promote its market activities in Korea. USMEF works to create new opportunities and develop existing international markets for beef, pork, lamb and veal produced in the United States of America.
Following a competitive pitch, Weber Shandwick was selected for its comprehensive experience in consumer marketing and the food industry, and thorough understanding of the red meat market and relevant industry issues. This, complemented with a highly strategic multidisciplinary approach, showcased the team’s cohesive capabilities and extensive media network.
“USMEF Korea is operating within a sensitive market and we needed a partner that understands the situation and is well-positioned to take us to a leadership position,” said Jihae Yang, Director for USMEF-Korea. “Weber Shandwick showed us a strategic consulting approach, and we were thrilled by the concept of creating advocates for our brand. It was a timely match for what we needed.”
Tyler Kim, managing director of Weber Shandwick Korea, said, “We are excited for the opportunity to represent USMEF as its public relations consultancy. We look forward to tackling the challenges and issues together with USMEF and finding the right solutions.”
Weber Shandwick Korea opened its doors in November last year, adding to Weber Shandwick’s global network, which includes offices in 76 countries. Along with USMEF, the Korean office has been retained by more than 10 clients already.
